Behind iron bars

Lorraine Lewis was a person who caught my eye based on her journey with her and her son, who is considered mentally retarded, and how she would like to make some changes within the government to help provide more resources, and change some laws for those parents with children with intellectual disabilities. I do not want to spoil what happens at the end, what is this journey of our son getting into trouble, and getting out of trouble, and getting back into trouble, and how his disability plays a huge part, in why Lorraine wants to change some laws for those with his condition.

The tenacious AGAPE

One of the things you pick up on right away with agape is her amazing personality, upbeat attitude, and her feistiness. She started her slogan be your incredible self, to motivate women and others who have gone through trauma all over the world. She survived a double homicide while she was eight months pregnant by the father of the baby. And that's just one part of our story, there are many hurdles and obstacles, trauma, pain physical, and mental that appear throughout her journey. When you listen to her story about neglect, childhood trauma, pretty much living on the streets of Chicago on your own as a young girl, and doing whatever it takes to survive, it is heart wrenching, but the comeback story makes it all worth it. She is one of the strongest people I've ever met, and we should all be proud of her resilience, and inner strength

This episode is with Mark Chartier, and when we first started to talk I instantly knew that he was a good guy based on the energy he gave off. As a kid, he acted out poorly in school and had different tics and movements that weren't entirely understood until later in life. When he was finally diagnosed they told him he had Tourette's syndrome, and his life goes this was only the beginning of his journey, because later he end up suffering a brain injury that caused him to have a huge stutter, but all in all, he did not let that stop him either. He remembered all the people who helped him over his journey and when he thought back to those people they all had a common theme, and that made him get into the special education field by becoming a teacher. And now he is a disability advocate, a self-published author, and most importantly a beautiful person who is making a difference

Marjorie is a fantastic woman whose story is about how she deals with change and copes with her disability. She did not want to put certain limitations on what she could and could not do, and after dealing with her paralyzation she had to take alternate measures so that she didn't become complacent and stagnant. She is a writer, a fantastic mother, and an explorer.

Wendy Wallace is a delightful family-oriented woman who has a story to tell. Her story starts one night when she felt sickly and thought it would go away in time, but he did not. She had a flesh eating bacteria that got in her body through an ingrown hair, and eventually put her in a coma and when she woke up she was a quadruple amputee. Where most people would have completely been distraught, Wendy looked to her family and God to help guide her through this tumultuous time for help end guidance. After brainstorming for a good period of time and reading her Bible, she created her own website so she can blog and share her amazing story.

The professor of perseverance

James Purdue was a guy I found online, and while going through his story, I knew he would be a perfect acquisition to the show. His story really starts after playing a pick-up football game where he was tackled wrong, and dislocated three vertebrae in his back, which caused him to be quadriplegic and paralyzed. Now that may seem like a life-altering situation, and it was, but he turned it into a career of motivating others to get out of their own way, becoming a best seller, and just being a room now on speaker. His motto is get out your past, and step into your future

Nurse Pamela

This episode is with a returning special guest my mother. In her previous episode she talked about her vantage point from me being sick, but this time around it's about her taking what she saw with me as a child, and turning it into a career. We discuss where she was at after a bad break up, and low funds in the bank account. She decided to pick yourself up by your bootstraps and become a nurse. We discuss her emotional journey with having no money to succeeding at a high paying an eventful career. The main reason I wanted to have her on is to show what it's like to be a nurse in the pandemic. We definitely discuss all that she saw, and participated in during these last few years of Covid.

Anna Leonarda's story is a fascinating one, when I came across her profile, and I saw what she was promoting, and when I got to read a little bit of a story, I was very fascinated, and I really wanted to get to know her for the show. She is a breast cancer survivor, and she also suffers from a condition that causes her to have excruciating periods, and it makes it really hard to enjoy intercourse. She tells her tragic story of being in the shower and finding multiple lumps on her breast, and having multiple surgeries to have them removed. She has gone through a lot of pain and turmoil in her life, and her way to turn it around is by creating her own dating site. She did this because she struggled in her own life because of having so much pain in her private area, sex was never enjoyable, but she still desire to find a mate that will love her for who she is. The idea behind the dating site is to match individuals who struggle with sexual dysfunction/limitations. She realize that she was not the only one, and that there was no place for those who are like her to find someone of their own, so she created a safe space so that they could find love as well.

To serve the world you have to be healed

Our next guest I met through a previous guess Andrea who has become a good Mutual friend to both of us. When I met Pauline I noticed that she was an overly positive person, and secondary she didn't have any arms, but what I would later find out as she has no legs either, and the positivity that she generates is more impressive the more you get to know her. Most people view being a quadriplegic amputee as impossible to overcome, Pauline always has a positive answer, and shows true inner strength when dealing with her circumstances. We discuss all the different things she uses to make her life easier, even though nothing comes easy, she always finds a way to accomplish what she's doing. She tells us how it's like to drive, and to do basic chores, and it's very impressive.
